Having great parties outside in the summertime

Having great parties outside in the summertime

Summer is just around the corner. In the summertime, use the opportunity to make a difference between a good time and a great time at any and every outdoor party... Weddings, picnics or pool parties. To approach each outdoor party with confidence, be prepared for anything and everything Mother Nature main part. The lower few guidelines to help in mind to keep the good times rolling at your outdoor parties.

  • Summarize your car and make sure that the radiator is full of antifreeze and you have extra on hand.
  • Always make sure it's written in your contract and when you speak to your client before the event that if you are outside you are under some type of a tent or cover to protect you and your equipment from the Sun and any outdoor elements.
  • Since you can't always count on a client to have a tent it would be a good idea to have an extra pop up handy just in case yo need it. Tarps and or blankets are also a good idea to help cover your equipment in case it rains or to protect your equipment from the Sun. These tarps are blankets can also help cover your equipment to hide it when it's carried in your vehicle.
  • If you are using vinyl and you are outside never have your turntables and or the vinyl in direct sunlight it only takes a few minute in 80-plus degree heat to melt and warp your vinyl.
  • Watch the wind outside if using a turntable what can blow your turn arms or any other type of paper for business cards that are on your table.
  • Bring an extra shirt or change of clothes when you begin to feel the effects of the Heat and you may sweat a lot. A towel or Sports towel that becomes cold when you wet it is also a good idea to help keep you cool. It is also a great idea to carry a small fan that you can point at yourself to keep you cool.
  • Rain or pool water should be regarded with special care and of course, never stand in water while using your microphone or touching your equipment. The minute it starts to rain you should immediately shut down and unplug everything and get to safety.

Anniversary Dance

Anniversary Game

Hey DJs we will be posting games for weddings, Kids, and line dances (for all to do) in future blog posts so make sure you subscribe to our blog or get the RSS feed if you are computer savvy.

The first wedding activity is the Anniversary Game:

Do you want to recognize all of the married couples at your reception. The Anniversary or Generations dance is a great way to do this. We always like to build the dance floor, not tear it down. We always start with the newlyweds and work our way up. 1-5 years first, 5-10 years next… and so on. Once at 5 years we dismiss the couples by increments of 5 years. When we reach the longest married couple then we recognize the longest married couple by asking them to offer the bride and groom some advice for their marriage. Then, play something like “At Last” by Etta James, or “Could I Have This Dance?” and invite the bride and groom to dance with the longest married couple, about half way through the song we invite everyone else to join in. This is a great way to commemorate all of the married couples.

How to be the BEST DJ you can be.

How to become the best Disc Jockey you can be

Is there a magic formula or a simple solution to ensure that you can become one of the best DJs in your area? Not really, but there are many ways to point yourself in the right direction. Blowe are a few guidelines to follow that proved beneficial to many top disc jockeys.

Always exceed expectations
To exceed a client's expectations is simply to provide more than a client is hoping for. It could be an early call to them, performing more activities, or playing all of their requests. It may even be a DJ who is accommodating and polite. Although the expectations vary from client to client, your best performance at each party will ensure you have exceeded their expectations. The better you perform, the more noticed you will become... The more referrals you will get.

Your sales pitch is 100%

80% of your sales pitch for new referrals depends on the quality of your performance. Make a party fun and memorable and people will be invested in having you for their party. The other 20% is your salesman ability. Don't be afraid to ask a potential client to fill out information that you can follow up with them later. Most will say yes! Also, be sure to distribute plenty of business cards and or literature. These actions will help convince many clients to book you.

Invest when you can

If there is one piece of equipment you can invest in to improve your performance as a disc jockey it is a nice wireless microphone. Wireless mic enables you to go places with a mic where no DJ has gone before with a wire. You will be able to stay on the dance floor with the guests for activities, teaching line dances, or for the introductions. A wireless Mic Forces you to get out front from behind the equipment, enjoying the fun with the guests.

Do the “little things”

In sports, the difference between an athlete's success or failure is usually determined by the little extras each player does more than the other. This jockeying is no different. Those DJs cognizant of the little things that make a difference make sure they call their clients early, arrive with plenty of time to set up and get organized, add interesting and fun twist to the activities, and always perform to the best of their ability.

See Limitless possibilities

Some believe the only disc jockeys that are the best because they have an excellent voice, or they can beat mix real well, where they can scratch and cut records. The truth is that it doesn't always take years to get there there are a bunch of guys that are top DJs today that started only a few years ago. Work hard and commit yourself to be the best you can be, and you will see results!
